Artificial Solutions Announces Shell Expands Digital Employees’ Language Capabilities
Artificial Solutions®, the natural language interaction (NLI) specialist that enables users to have a meaningful, humanlike interaction with technology, announced today that Shell has expanded the capabilities of its highly intelligent digital employees to include solutions for multiple geographies and support for additional languages including German, Chinese and Russian.
Built on the Teneo® Platform, Shell’s digital employees ‘Emma’ and ‘Ethan’ help and advise customers on the technical aspects of Shell’s lubricant products. Teneo’s unique Master-Local feature has allowed Shell to use the original structure and knowledge that powers its digital employees, including integration into other systems, to enable new languages to be added quickly with minimal effort.
“Teneo typically enables organizations to reuse approximately 80% of the original content, while making it easy for teams operating in different locations to make any necessary adjustments to comply with local regulations, culture, and even different competitive products,” says Andy Peart, CMO of Artificial Solutions. “The ease with which new languages can be added makes it simple for global businesses to develop and refine their digital employee in their home country and then rapidly role it out worldwide.”
Initially launched in the UK and US markets, digital employees Emma and Ethan know the details of over 3000 Shell products and understand over 16,500 different characteristics of these products, providing customers with a wide range of answers to queries and relevant technical information such as product pack availability, physical property details including density or flash points, and product performance benefits.
The Teneo Language Resources are at the heart of Teneo’s ability to make natural language applications truly multi-lingual—fast. Developed over the last fifteen years, using millions of real-life dialogs, machine learning, statistical tools and sophisticated algorithms, they also make handling non-Latin based languages such as Chinese and Russian easier. Supporting 35 languages, Teneo based applications have the ability to understand and interpret a user’s meaning, even when they ask a question using their own terminology and mannerisms.
The Teneo platform enables enterprises to rapidly build a range of artificially intelligent natural language applications from digital employees and mobile personal assistants, to wearables and IoT interfaces—all from a single platform. Teneo’s analytic capabilities enable organizations to unlock the knowledge from millions of conversations, delivering immediate access to an unrivalled depth of understanding into the voice of their customer alongside key business intelligence.
