Johan Ahlund To Play Chess Against Grandmaster Garry Kasparov
Johan Åhlund, co-founder and board director of Artificial Solutions, the natural language interaction and Customer Service Optimization specialist, will be pitting his wits in a game of chess against former World Champion (1985-2000) Grandmaster Garry Kasparov, in Belgium later today.
Organised by Your Next Move, which encourages children to play chess to develop skills that will be indispensable later on in life, Mr Kasparov will be playing against ten children and several entrepreneurs including Johan Åhlund, in a simultaneous chess tournament. The children chosen from chess clubs and primary schools were the best at their game against chess grandmasters Nigel Short and Almira Skripchenko in an earlier tournament open to children aged 6-16.
“As in business, to win at chess requires more than just strategy,” comments Johan Åhlund. “It requires the ability to analyse complex situations, to make calculated, but daring moves and to act fast under pressure. All of these are qualities we should be nurturing in children today to help them develop into the entrepreneurs of the future.”
No stranger to entrepreneurialism, Johan Åhlund co-founded Artificial Solutions in 2001 in Sweden and has lived and worked in various countries since he left Sweden 20 years ago. He is fluent in Swedish, English, Spanish, French and German. He majored in accounting and finance at the Stockholm School of Economics and when time permits, he enjoys sailing, skiing and playing chess.
