Artificial Solutions Delivers Faster Natural Language Development in 35 Languages

Artificial Solutions™, the natural language interaction (NLI) specialist that enables users to have a meaningful, humanlike interaction with technology, announced today that its NLI platform, Teneo™, can now think and interpret in 35 languages.

The unique way in which Artificial Solutions develops its language resources enables enterprises to develop natural language projects faster than any other comparable product on the market.

Built around a series of language objects such as lexicon, synonyms and themes, the Teneo Language Resources have been developed over the last fifteen years, using millions of real-life dialogs, machine learning, statistical tools and sophisticated algorithms.

This wealth of knowledge and expertise built into the Teneo platform makes it easier for enterprises to build natural language capabilities into their applications and engage directly with customers over multiple communication channels.

One of the many ways in which Teneo decreases development time is to remove time consuming processes. This is illustrated in the intelligent manner in which Teneo handles the building of a conversation flow to answer questions on a particular subject.

Whilst many other natural language development tools require the multiple different combinations of a question to be coded in, with Artificial Solutions’ Teneo Language Resources, the developer simply needs to add two representative sample questions.

Teneo’s deep intelligence will then reason out the other alternative ways the query might be asked. This feature alone can help reduce typical development timescales from months to weeks.

The Teneo Language Resources also makes handling non Latin based languages such as Japanese and Chinese easier. From a natural language point of view, these languages are both interesting and complex.

Japanese, for example, uses three different writing systems and is frequently accompanied by Latin based characters and Arabic numerals in input texts.

But it’s Teneo’s ability to understand and interpret a user’s meaning, despite the lack of whitespace that splits words up naturally and the complicated way words and phrases are formed, that makes Teneo so accurate.

“Teneo Language Resources allow organizations to save both money and time to market,” says Andy Peart, CMO of Artificial Solutions. “But this isn’t the only benefit.

They are also structured to enable a master application to be developed in one language and then easily ported into other languages – of course with the added ability to localize if required to accommodate product differences, local regulations etc.

In practice for multi-lingual projects, this translates to most organizations reusing approximately 80% of the original content.

It is important to note that Artificial Solution counts the main language only once in its list of 35. For example English is listed once but is available in several variations – UK, US, Australian, Indian etc.

In addition, for these 35 languages, the Teneo platform also caters for regional differences and different writing scripts.

Examples of this include the different spelling variations between UK and US English, the differences in vocabulary and grammar for Brazilian and European Portuguese, and the different Japanese writing systems.

Teneo was previously available in 21 languages. The increase in capability is in response to the growing number of enterprises implementing global natural language projects.
