Artificial Solutions Adds NLI Technology to Mattel Toy Box App
Artificial Solutions™, the natural language interaction (NLI) specialist that enables users to have a meaningful, human-like interaction with technology, announced today that the Teneo platform is powering the virtual assistant within Mattel’s award winning “Toy Box” app that helps customers find the perfect gift for a special day.
Available on both Android and iOS, La Scatola dei Giocattoli App provides a playful and interactive way for Italian customers to engage in conversation with the world’s largest toy manufacturer. Alongside fun features such as discovering popular toys from the year they were born, customers can ask the app to suggest a present by saying something as simple as “I’m looking for a gift for a small boy,” or a more complex sentence such as “I am looking for a toy for a 12 year old girl, but I don’t want to spend too much.”
If all of the required information is given in the first sentence then the Teneo virtual assistant displays the most suitable toys. If however some key information is missing such as the age, gender or budget, the Teneo virtual assistant will prompt the customer to provide more details about their requirements before making its suggestion. The customer can then save the gift ideas in their Toy Box and receive a reminder nearer the time.

Available both within the app and on the La Scatola dei Giocattoli website, the Toy Box virtual assistant is powered by Artificial Solutions’ Teneo platform that allows non-computational linguists to quickly build sophisticated natural language applications. Teneo virtual assistants are capable of resolving queries, providing links to information or resources, accessing back-end systems, and even connecting to third party services, just to deliver the right answer.
La Scatola dei Giocattoli App has already won the tablet and app category in the International Events and Relational Strategies GrandPrix, which is dedicated to to the most innovative and effective techniques of consumer marketing.
